President of the United States of America ''Donald Trump'' announced in the early hours of Friday that he and his wife both tested positive for the coronavirus, an extraordinary development coming months into a global pandemic and in the final stretch of his reelection campaign in which he has increasingly held crowded campaign events in defiance of public health guidelines and sometimes state and local governments.
"Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!" Trump tweeted via his official accound around 1 a.m. on Friday.
Melania Trump also tweeted: "As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. "Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together."
Donald Trump, 74, and his wife Melania, 50, are self-isolating after receiving their positive coronavirus result. Trump is not the first world leader to have tested positive. Earlier this year, Prime Minister of Britain ''Boris Johnson'' and Brazilian President ''Jair Bolsonaro'' were also infected. They both have since recovered.
